Miscellenaous Section 2 ︎

A sense of urgency has positives and negatives: a positive would be the motivation that it gives you to act; a negative would be the feelings of stress and fervency that it can invoke. Ok. So how about a fruitless sense of urgency? This is when you experience the negatives without reaping any of the benefits, or at the very least, the negatives outweigh the benefits. You feel the fervent stirring, you dwell on the lack of time, but then you don’t act in a way that alleviates those things, or that has the possibility of moving you past those things. More specifically, the realization that I’ve come to is this: my current life is organized in such a way that I do not have the ability to take the level of action that is required to make the sense of urgency net beneficial – I take action, but it is not enough to overcome the threshold, and so I am left in a similar position with the negative feelings remaining the dominant factor of the sense of urgency.
